PHARAOH MEOWTH FAMILY
.
Scientific Classification:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Felidae
Genus: Felis
Species: F. persicus
Subspecies: F. persicus aegyptus
.
[Notes: So, the next phase starts here. Now, I've always felt a need for a Sphinx based Pokémon, since Nefertimon has been one of my favourite Digimon as a kid. I was looking at Cosmopoliturtle's gallery, and his Meowth redesign added inspiration to my thoughts. And here is the result…]
.
"Follow me to a place where incredible feats
are routine every hour or so,
Where enchantments run rampant and wild on the streets
Open Sesame! Here we go!"
.
If you travel towards the far west of Alneo region, you'll find a large mountain range. Many foreigners believe that marks the boundaries of the region, but only the locals know that beyond those mountains, lies a vast desert full of miracles and myths.
.
One such myth revolves around the Meowth variant that is a pretty common sight in this part of Alneo. Long before Alexander Kent of Kanto united Alneo as one complete region, this desert region was ruled by one great king and his Persian, named Bast. It is said in the local myths that Bast was blessed by Arceus (called Arc-Ra in local mythology) to be the protector of the desert and its people. It is believed that this Persianfought against the giant Onix and saved the desert from Chaos.
.
The Pharaoh Meowth is seen as a symbol of prosperity and wealth, and killing one is seen as an ultimate sin with certain death penalty. The Meowth are so important that even catching one without permission is seen as an offense and a trainer is allowed to catch a Meowth only if the Pokémon accepts their company.
.
These Meowth are way more regal and well-behaved than their other counterparts. Contrary to the Kantonese or Alolan Meowth (or any other felid Pokémon for that matter), the Alnean Pharaoh Meowth are much more focused and avoid loafing around. The Meowth owned by families tend to be very protective of their trainers and are known to create tiny sandstorms if they feel their trainers are in danger.
.
Upon evolution, the Pokémon gains a strong sense of pattern recognition. A Pharaoh Persian has brilliant intelligence and is even able to read ancient hieroglyphics. Locals say that this Persian being Ground/Flying dual type is symbolic to it being the protector of both the land and the sky. A Pharaoh Persian has the potential to bury an entire city under sand if it gets enraged. Luckily, these Pokémon are known to be extremely level-headed and never lose their calm, atleast not in records.
.
Statistically, this subspecies have superior speed, so much that it can deliver several critical strikes in the blink of an eye. Additionally, its heavy Special Defense and Special Attack, combined with a tricky movepool make this Pokémon even more precious. No doubt why the Pharaoh Persian has always remained the most prized companion of the Gym Leader in the desert city of Aegypti.

I love everything about these two! Creative ideas with familiar concepts make for a pokemon family that is simply genius! Why have they not done something like this before? :)

Purugly exists. Alolan Persian is not necessary. There doesn't need to be another really ugly cat pokemon.     -_-"

I like the Dugtrio, they have a good amount of lore behind their "hair". Most of the people who don't like them probably don't know the real-life lore behind their "hair". So you know about it?

And yeah, Meowth looks great, but Persian ruins it.

Pele's hair, yes.. I just feel it seems off with Dugtrio's design. Opinions 😉

 To each their own. But I also like Mega Slowbro's design. A lot of people don't, but they're forgetting that Slowpoke is literally called the Dopey Pokemon. It has every right to look silly or stupid. But I like how it actually looks like a floating fortress or as if it has armor. And the worried/puzzled look on its face upon realizing that it is basically being eaten alive. XD

I wonder, are there multiple species of Meowth in Alneo?

Not quite, Alneo has variant for every single Pokémon, which means lots of feline Pokémon. So, while Meowth is only limited to Aegypti Desert, the rest of Alneo is home to other felines like Skitty, Glameow, Litten, Purrlion, Litleo, and so on...
